Pauline Marie Meador was born 27 November 1908 in Virginia, USA. She was the daughter of Fields Cabell Meador and Elizabeth Lee Perdue. Her older siblings were:

On 31 Mar 1938, her husband Griffin Peyton Fuqua (33y 7m 14d) died at jefferson Hospital in Roanoke City from liver and pancreas carcinoma with contributing gastro-enterostomy after cholecystectomy on Jan 17th. He was white, married to Mrs Pauline Fuqua, worked as a spinner at Viscose Corp, and resided at Route 5 in Roanoke, Roanoke County. He was born 17 Aug 1904 in Bedford County and the son of Peyton W Fuqua and Algie B City, both born in Virginia. The informant of his death was E V Parsell of Roanoke. John M Oakey Inc provided funeral services and he was buried Apr 3rd in Bedford County. [14]

On 18 May 1938, her mother Elizabeth Lee Meador (67) died in Big Lick Magisterial District, Roanoke County, Virginia from coronary thrombosis. She was white, married to F C Meador, worked at home, resided at RFD #5 in Roanoke. She was born in Franklin County and the daughter of Daniel Perdue (Virginia) and Rebecca Divers (Franklin County). The informant of her death was her husband Mr F C Meador. John M Oakey Inc provided services and she was buried May 20th in Franklin County. [15] [16]

1940s

On 22 Apr 1940, Pauline Fuqua (32) lived in Garden City, Cave Spring Magisterial District, Roanoke County with her daughter F and son Morris (10). Their owned home was valued at $1500. They were white. Pauline was widowed, born in Virginia, ad a 6th grade education, and worked 40 hours the previous week as a reeler at the rayon mill; her 1939 salary in 16 weeks was $330. The Fuqua children were born in Virginia and school students. On 1 Apr 1935, the family lived in rural Roanoke County. [13] [17]

On 1 Jun 1940, her sister Myrtle Lee Meador (27) married Curtis Virel Huffman (26) in Richmond, Virginia. Curtis was white, single, worked in dry cleaning, born in Roanoke City, lived at RFD #5 in Roanoke, and the son of Stonewall G and Essie Pearcey Huffman. Myrtle was white, divorced from her first marriage, born in Roanoke County, lived at 378 Elm Ave in Roanoke, and the daughter of Fields C and Elizabeth Perdue Meador. They were married by P H Tamlinson, minister of the Baptist church. [18]

In the mid 1940s, her daughter F M Fuqua (<21) married J R Trail (20s) in Roanoke. Mr Trail was white, single, an employee of Roanoke Welding Co, born in Pulaski, Virginia, son of Jerry Robert Trail and Kitty Virginia Lyons, and resided at R 5 Box 697 in Roanoke. Ms Fuqua was white, single, an employee of Roanoke Linen Service, born in Roanoke, daughter of Pauline Marie Meador and the late Griffin Peyton Fuqua, and resided at R 5 Box 650 in Roanoke. They were married by Rev Dow Nelson McGrady, minister of the Baptist church. [19]

On 16 June 1945, her father Fields Cabell Meador (69y 11m 7d) died from exhaustion due to cerebral hemorrhage and paralysis at Roanoke hospital in Roanoke. His usual residence was 319 Riverland Rd in Roanoke, he was a self-employed farmer, white, and a widower from his marriage to Elizabeth. He had been born 9 Jul 1875 in Franklin County and the son of Cush and Catherine Abshire Meador. The informant of his death was his daughter Mrs Curtis Huffman of Roanoke. Lotz Funeral Home Inc provided services and he was buried at Fairview on June 18th. [20] [21] [22]

1950s

On 7 Apr 1950, Pauline Marie Fuqua (41) married Charlie William Ridgeway (33) in Roanoke County. Charlie was white, single, worked as a brakeman, born in Huntington, West Virginia, son of Altie F Ridgeway and Mary A Patsel, and resided at RFD #6 Box 249 in Roaonke. Pauline was white, widowed from her first marriage, a Viscose employee, born in Franklin County, daughter of Cable F Meador and Bettie E Perdue, and resided at 1414 Mabry Ave in Roanoke. They were married by Ernest S Cochran, minister of the Methodist church. [23]

On 13 Oct 1952, her son Morris Payton Fuqua (22) married Hazel Maxine Sloan (24) in Roanoke. Morris was white, single, worked for the U S Army, born in Roanoke, son of Griffin Payton Fuqua and Pauline Marie Ridgeway, ,and resided at 1611 Edgeton Ave SE in Roanoke City. Hazel was white, single, born in Franklin County, Virginia, daughter of Claude Ammon Sloan and Julia Halsie Moore, and resided at 820 Rorer Ave SW in Roanoke City. They were married by the Hustings Court of the City of Roanoke. [24]

In the mid 1950s, her daughter F F Trail (20s) married M A Spangler (30s) in Roanoke City. Mr Spangler was white, divorced from his first marriage, worked as a communications officer, born in Roanoke, son of Andrew Jackson Spangler and Vadie Berdine Wickham, and resided at 714 17th St NW in Roanoke City. Ms Trail was white, divorced from her first marriage, worked for Roanoke Linen Service, born in Roanoke, daughter of Griffin Peyton Fuqua and Pauline Marie Meadow, and resided at 2124 Melrose Ave NW in Roanoke City. They were married by Rev J D Att, minister of the Lutheran church. [25]

On 15 Aug 1955, her brother Alphonso C Meador (48) married Johnsie Lorraine Ramsey (38) in Burnt Chimney, Virginia. Alphonso was white, single, worked as a farmer, born in Franklin County, son of Cabell Meador and Elizabeth Perdue, and resided on Route 1 in Hardy, Virginia. Lorraine was white, widowed from her first marriage, a housekeeper, born in Bedford County, Virginia, daughter of Frank Faris and Bessie Gibbs, and resided in Hardy. They were married by C H Palmer, minister of the Methodist church. [26]

1960s

On 24 Dec 1960, her brother Fields Olen Meador (59) died on arrival at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Roanoke from multiple injuries after crossing a public street and being struck by an automobile in Roanoke City. He was white, widowed from his marriage to Lulie Margaret Light Meador, resided at 1006 Mohawk Ave NE in Roanoke City, and worked as a carpenter for Reid Trent Builders. He was born 15 Dec 1901 in Franklin County and the son of Fields C Meador and Betty Elizabeth Lee Perdue. The informant of his death was his wife Mrs F O Meador. He was buried Dec 27th at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Roanoke County. [27]

In the mid 1960s, her daughter F M Spangler (30s) married W H Grubb (30s) in Salem, Roanoke County. Mr Grubb was white, divorced from his first marriage, worked for N&W as a brakeman, born in Roanoke County, son of Henry Robert Grubb and Blanche Ella Phlegar, and resided at 914 Front Street in Salem. Ms Spangler was white, divorced from her second marriage, worked as a clerk for Roanoke Linen Service, born in Roanoke, daughter of Griffin Peyton Fuqua and Pauline Marie Meador, and resdided at 3750 Williamson Road in Roanoke. On 16 Dec 1979, her brother Alphonso Cabell Meador (72) died in Roanoke, Roanoke County. He was buried at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Franklin County. [29]

1980s

On 25 Jul 1981, her sister Katherine Lucille Bohon (78) died on arrival at Community Hospital in Roanoke City from acute coronary insufficiency. She was Caucasian, resided at 2656 Ruritan Road NE outside Roanoke City, Roanoke County, a homemaker, and widowed from her married to Roy G Bohon Sr. She was born 25 Feb 1903 in Indiana and the daughter of Fields Cabel Meador and Elizabeth Lee Perdue. On 19 May 1989, her brother Wade Hampton Meador (85) died in Franklin County. He was married to Grace H Meador. He was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke City. [33]
