James was born in 1924. He was the son of Nathan McWhorter and Dora Ramsburg. He passed away in 2011.

He married Maysie Louise Morris on 19 November 1952 in Staunton, Virginia.

Jim was a graduate of Lost Creek High School, a WW II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retiree of Dominion Resources and a lifelong farmer.

James passed away on 19 November 2011 in Saint Clairsville, Belmont, Ohio followed with burial at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew, Lewis County, West Virginia.
