Arthur migrated west to Minnesota, where he married Hilma (Aronson) McTarnaghan, the daughter of Andrew and Matilda Aronson, marrying in Duluth, Minnesota on October 7, 1915,[3] and having two children together.
He registered for the draft at the age of 36, registering in Bayfield, Wisconsin on September 12, 1918.[4] He stated that he lived in Drummond, Wisconsin and that he was employed there as a farmer. Arthur was described as a short, slender man with brown hair and grey eyes, and noted that he had bad hearing. He did not enlist.
By 1920, Arthur and his family lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Arthur worked as the law editor at a publishing company.[5] The company was described as a wholesale book company on the 1930 federal census enumeration.[6] On the 1940 federal census, the company was further described as a law book publishing company.[7][8]
Having applied for Social Security in 1954,[9] Arthur McTarnaghan passed away at the age of 76[10] and is buried at Roselawn Cemetery in Roseville, Minnesota.[11]
