Phil McMahon was born in New South Wales, Australia

Phil was born in 1957 at Bathurst Base Hospital, New South Wales, Australia. He is the son of Charles Hedley McMahon and Nola Amy Sims.

When born my parents were living at 58 Stanley Street, in Bathurst. Father Charlie was employed as a motor mechanic at Macquarie Motors and my mother Nola was employed at Gurdon Motors, where they first met when Charlie was employed there. I was baptized at Randwick Presbyterian Church, where my parents were married in 1956. We moved residence in 1958 to 204 Browning Street, not long before my brother John was born in December of that year. This is where we lived for the majority of my childhood. My early school education was at Bathurst West Primary School. My main sporting interest was swimming, for which I won a number of events in the different strokes of this sport. I was a keen cricket player and spent many hours after school practicing my bowling in our backyard. I also worked after school and on weekends pumping petrol and associated tasks at a family friends service station to save my $2 per week to buy my first decent pushbike.

Phil married Susan Elizabeth Writer 10 Aug 1996 at Machattie Park Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.

Hi Phil

I noticed you added exact dates to James BLACKMAN profile. Are you related? Would you like to be Profile Manager? If so, please ask to be on the Trusted list and I'd be happy to transfer it to you, Amanda Myers

Hi Phil

You need to ask to be on the trusted list for the profile of James Blackman (1862-1955) not my profile. Sorry I wasn't clear. If you want any additional profiles that I manage attached to the same family, I'd be happy to transfer them too. But again you need to ask to be on the trusted list for each of them or give me a list of them Thanks Amanda Myers

Hello Phil

I appreciate you sending me this record. "According to NSW BDM Daniel was born Daniel Ainsworth, parents Joseph and Martha, on 9 Oct 1936. familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au Daniel Ainsworth 359/1836

However, this is one occasion when NSW BDM have made an error in the name of the Father. They may have taken the record from the baptism record of 1843 when Martha married Joseph Ainsworth.

I can only surmise that the discrepancy happened because the five sons, Robert Davison Jnr, John Davison, George Davison, Daniel Davison, and Jonathan Davison, were not baptised until just before Martha (Blackman) Davison and Joseph Ainsworth were to be married in 1843. And they may have mistakenly been baptised as Ainsworth instead of Davison.

Daniel Davison was Robert Davison Snr 's biological son, born on the 9th October, 1838 at Kelso, via Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia while he and his mother, Martha Blackman were still married.

It was not until 1840 when Robert Davison, who was a carrier (or carter) of goods from Bathurst to Sydney, went missing on a trip to Sydney, when he either drowned crossing one of the rivers, or he could have caught the bubonic plaque which was raging in Sydney at the time. If it was the latter case, he would have been buried in a mass grave without paperwork or death certificate. In either event his body was never recovered. And after a few years, Martha would have been declared a widow, and been able to marry again. Which she did in 1843 to Joseph Ainsworth.

These are my direct descendants. In 1988, when it was the bi-centenary of Australia, and when the Government, as a gift, released for free, genealogical information, I spent absolute hours and months researching the family, visiting relatives in Kelso and Bathurst and the Historical Society there, and confirming information on the different 5 branches of the Davisons. I come through George Davison "branch". Hope this clears everything up for you, and you can be assured that what I say in regard to Daniel's father being Robert Davison is true. Kind Regards, Linda Davison

Hi Phil,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.

  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Hi,

The Global Cemeteries Project is currently undergoing our member check-in and wanted to verify that you are still active and interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Cemetery Teams? If not, is there a particular Team or area you are interested in participating with? I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google Groups for internal project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup for access feel free to submit a join request and we will get that approved as quick as possible. We also ask that members check their followed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (CEMETERIES) so you don't miss any discussions in G2G.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank you for all of your contributions to WikiTree and let you know that any ideas or suggestions for improvement you may have for the Global Cemeteries Project would greatly appreciated!

I look forward to hearing form you soon!

Hello, Phil,

Thank you so much for responding to our check-in for the Miltary and War Project.

We are sorry to hear that you are not currently active, but we understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to the branches they are currently building. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin the project should your interests shift back in this direction.

Hi Phillip,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like Australia Project would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag Australia will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Hi Phillip and thanks for your message on G2G.

I’ve added the Irish Roots Project badge to your profile. If you click on the badge it will take you to the full list of our wonderful members. Click on Irish Roots Project will take you to the first page of the project. I've added your good self to the member interest page.
