Biography

Christy (McIntyre) Algar has Scottish Ancestors.

Christine "Christy" was born in Canada West (Ontario), about 1843.

Christy married Charles Duncan Algar in Ontario. Their first child Caroline Elizabeth Algar was born in 1869 in Athol, North Glengarry, Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada.^[1][2]

In 1881 Christy was 36 yrs. old and they had five children and lived in Roxborough, Stormont, Ontario, Canada. Her husband Charles was 40 yrs. old, and worked as a farmer and carpenter.^[3]

Soon after that, their youngest child Duncan was born in Roxborough, Stormont, Ontario, Canada. Sadly, he passed away at 2 yrs. old of Croup in Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.^[4][5]

In 1901 Christy and Charles were living in Ponoka, Alberta, The Territories. Christy was 57 yrs. old and of Baptist faith. They were living by the household of their son Frederick. They all were General Merchants.^[6] In 1906 Christy was 63 yrs. old living with her husband Charles and beside the household of their son Frederick in Ponoka, Strathcona, Alberta, Canada. They kept one milk cow.^[7] In 1911 they were almost seventy, and were living in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada working as merchants.^[8] Her husband Charles passed away soon after that, about 69 yrs. old.

In 1921 Christy was about 80 yrs. old and lived with her daughter Caroline, her son-in-law Harry Finch, and six grandchildren in the New Westminster/Langley area in British Columbia, Canada.^[9]

Christy passed away in1929 about 86 years old, in Jarvie, Westlock, Alberta, Canada.^[10] She is buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Ponoka, Red Deer Census Division, Alberta, Canada.^[11]

• sources needed for birth, marriage. Using 1901 census for birth date until better source found. Find a grave profile has lengthy biography, no photo. Bio states that Christy was born in Highland Scotland and immigrated with her parents to Ontario. Christy married Charles in Ontario about 1870.
