He was convict 3387 and arrived in the Swan River Colony from London on the Stag on 23/5/1855 age 32.
In 1852 he had been sentenced by Court Martial to 21 years in Quebec Canada for desertion. His surname was recorded as Maginn and his occupation was labourer. On that ship there were seven other convicts guilty of similar charges in Canada.
On 16/7/1856 he was granted his Ticket of Leave.
He married in 1856 and his marriage records his surname is spelt Mcquinn.
In 1857 he was living in Bunbury when his first child was born.
In December 1859 he was living in York with his daughter age 2. His occupation was Carter. Also with him were John McDemott age 15, a carpenter and William Whytehead age 15 labourer.
On 28/7/1860 he was granted a Conditional Pardon. In February 1865 while living in York and a farmer he was declared Insolvent. He moved to Perth that same year. On 11/8/1873 he was granted a Certificate of Freedom. He had five daughters and four sons. He died age 80 and at the time was living at 135 Kensington St East Perth .
