Biography
James J McCormick was born in or around 1761 in Cumberland, Pennsylvania. He married Susannah Glenn in 1789 in Dauphin, Pennsylvania. They had several children over the next 19 years[1]. He died in 1830 in St. Louis, Missouri, his will[2] written in May and probated in June of that year.
That James was the father of Samuel McCormick et. al., and the husband of Susannah Glenn McCormick is clearly indicated in his 1830 will, but we don't know much more about him.
Research Notes
Some researchers[3][4] place James J. McCormick as a son of James McCormick 1729-1804 (in turn the son of immigrant Thomas McCormick 1702-1762 + Mary Oliver McCormick 1728-1804, not found here), but they also list a different DOD, and children that differ from what we have here. Having nothing firm with which to clearly connect the two generations (there seem to be a great many James McCormicks floating about in this time period[5]), I have not presumed beyond this point, resting at the union of James + Susannah, and issue as supported by the handwritten will[2] and other sources[6].
