Eleanor McConville was baptised in the parish of Dromore on 17 November 1837 and was the eldest daughter of Edward McConville and Isabella Watson.[1]
Although Eleanor, known as Helen, was born in Ireland, her parents moved the family to Carluke, Lanarkshire, some time before the birth of her brother, Edward, in 1848.
On the 1851 census, Eleanor is living in the small village of Braidwood, near Carluke, Lanarkshire, with her parents and siblings.[2]

Eleanor married Thomas Train in the parish of Carluke on 21 August 1860 and they had seven children. The marriage certificate incorrectly names Eleanor's mother as Elizabeth rather than Isabella.[3]
On the 1861 census, Thomas and Eleanor are living in Braidwood, Carluke, Lanarkshire, with their eldest son, John, who is a month old.[4]

Eleanor McConville died of puerperal fever, aged 37 years, on 9 April 1875 after giving birth to her youngest child, Isabella, who died a few weeks later.[5]
