Biography

William Mccombs / McComb is mentioned in a few articles yet little is known for sure about his life. He was born January 14, 1772 in Abbeville, Colonial South Carolina.
We know he married Hannah Armstrong McCullough around 1808 and together the couple had several children; James McCain, Eliza and John McCombs being three of them.
We have chosen to use Findagrave's date of death for William; March 11, 1837 Abbeville, South Carolina. There are images of his headstone but I have trouble seeing the dates using my cell phone so if someone has better information or confirmation please comment! [1]
William McCombs was intered at Upper Long Cane Cemetery in

Abbeville, Abbeville County, South Carolina. [2]

Thanks,,, you just made me Smile~~~ Well,,, we are after all 9th Cousins, 3 times removed!!!! Must be the genes,,,, Chuckle!!! What I also find not only amusing, but interesting too, is that your father was a McCombs and yet despite my father's Great Grandmother... McCombs-752.... being a McCombs too our "Relationship" isn't connected by our mutual McCombs ancestry. At least not yet!!!

McCombs-932 and McCombs-914 appear to represent the same person because: Clear Duplicate.

I believe I agree and can't understand why these profiles aren't "popping up" under GED.match comparisons for these new profiles as this keeps happening whether it is one I created or adopted from 12 years ago... Is there a process where new members can circumnavigate the profile comparison process? Just curious. Thanks for catching this, I will compare and make sure all data is equal and approve with a note. GREAT question!!! Was wondering exactly the same myself.... it's infuriating because I always investigate each suggested match before creating a new profile!! Not sure who to ask about this,,, maybe a question to Post on the G2G.....

Maybe...but I've tried to throw it in conversations / comments on more notable profiles where project managers would see and that part of my inquiry is always left unanswered. I guess it is difficult to pose the inquiry without sounding impolite? I know with the uploaded GEDcoms you can not add someone unless you have 0 suggestions on your page- so all suggestions would have to be marked "incorrect" (not exact terminology) unless profiles are being added manually. I am all for everyone working together and this is by far the most "controlled" site with regard to allowed permissions... but it's frustrating I now spend over half my "Genealogy" time on merging, separating, messaging questions etc- esp.on FamilySearch but now here too. I'm glad you replied :) Cheers! Becky

I don't bother really anymore correcting on Family Search and ONLY rely on Sources for profiles,,, never on the Details~~~ Agree about Wiki Tree,,, BUT the Downloads from GEDcoms I find rambling notations in which you can't refer to unless you are a paying member and then more often than not the details can be wrong!!! Never mind,,, nothing in life is perfect and I certainly am NOT!!!

I am the notorious rambler but I definitely share in your frustration with the reoccurring problems that are very easily avoided, our self-depricating humour and so on... I honestly thought the email w/your message was something I wrote! Especially with the Ancestry part thrown in...I am constantly "detaching fake sources" on FamilySearch that are as you said ...and recently the remarks are even lazier; I saw a 5th great-grandfather who had 15 new sources and was excited ...each one of them said "www.ancestry.com" and tha is it. I thought I was going to cry...and I am also very fallible- and careful how I word things because I don't want anyone's feelings hurt...
