Nelson McCollum was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania^[1] to Daniel McCollum^[1][2] and Melissa Harris.^[1][2] His birth date is estimated at 1821 - see Research Notes, below.

  • Memorial found for a younger man of the same name in Ilinois: Nelson J. McCollum (25 Aug 1865 - 22 Oct 1892). Since this was in Paris, Edgar County, Illinois it is very likely to be his son (or possibly grandson).
