Biography

Ella was the daughter of John McClellan and Elizabeth Dodds
Ella was born almost exactly 12 months before her mother died on 17 November 1868.
Three other older children had died between 1864 and 1867.
Ellas was the only child born to this marriage who lived more than 15 months .
On the 1871 census she is living with her grandparents George and Sarah Dodds.
On the 1891 census she is living in Toronto, St Stephens Ward, Toronto City, Ontario, Canada, with her father and 2 half brothers from her father's second marriage, plus a cousin Elle Wilkinson daughter of her father's sister Mary Jane McClellan.
She married Jacob Erskine on 25 October 1893 at Alton. The newlyweds moved to East Luther Township, Dufferin, Ontario, Canada
