Elizabeth McBain was born in 1800 in Maryland to parents Ignatius McBaine and Elizabeth Carrick.[1] By 1820, her family had migrated south to Kentucky, and then to Missouri. On January 20th, 1824, she married John McClintock.[2] They were married by Elijah Foley, and elder at the months old congregation of the Baptist Church of Christ at Sugar Creek.[3] Together, she and John had six children:

William McClintock (1830-1865)
Elizabeth Ellen McClintock (born ~1831)
Susannah Mary McClintock (1832-1898)
Sarah Henrietta McClintock (1834-1899)
John Samuel McClintock (1840-1900)
Eliza was widowed in 1846 and in 1850, she was living with her six children and oldest daughter's husband. She passed away in 1855 in Missouri.[citation needed]
