I am a Generation Veneration Geek. Researching my family tree started as a hobby, now; it is an obsession. I dedicate my research to the memories of our ancestors, who flow like tributaries into the collective unconsciousness of humanity. I believe that our ancestor, our elders, are our teachers, our taproots to traditions, values, language and history. Researching family history, in my heart, is to respect their legacies, and, to honor their memory; as they are our guides to our future. Through the legacies of our ancestors, we can learn to reconnect our living generations, and our generations to come.
Looking forward to collaborating
Brick Walls
I have been researching my genealogy for several years now, but still have a lot of holes in my tree on my dad's side. Bare bones in terms of information, I have been working at filling in the blanks with my African American Ancestors and lost family branches.
The surnames I am researching on my dad's side are Smith( from Missouri, Tennessee), McLeod & Monroe (Ohio, Georgia, Virginia?), Ewing(Kentucky), Mayfield(Louisiana) and Dahl(Sweden).

I posted a check-in message a couple of weeks ago about the US Black Heritage Project to ask you about your activity with the project, but haven’t heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project? If I don’t hear from you by next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things. You’re always welcome to re-join the project at any time.
I’m conducting the 6-month check in for the US Black Heritage Project. Because we are growing so fast, it’s not always possible for me to see what everyone’s working on.
I’d love to hear what you’ve been working on and if you are still happy being a part of the Slave Narratives team. Members can change teams at any time.
Hi Elisa, Just checking in to see if you are still participating on the US Black Heritage project. If so, share with us what you are working on. Also, if you would take a moment to add the

I look forward to hearing from you!

We now have a project badge! Hooray! As soon as I hear back from you that you’d like to continue with the project, I will add the badge to your profile.
Hi Emma, I would love to continue to participate with the US Black Heritage Project. I was invited to assist with the Georgia Slave Narrative profiles; I've been attempting profile cleanups.
I see you started following the black_heritage tag. The US Black Heritage Project is focusing on improving profiles and connecting family and we would love to have you join. You can check out the project at this page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:US_Black_Heritage
As part of an annual check-in of the WikiTree US Presidents Project we are asking members if they are planning to continue their contributions to the project. We are establishing a page where everyone can identify the President or Vice President that they wish to manage. Just respond to this message to let me know 1) Are you planning to continue with the Project and 2) do you have a specific President or Vice President that you are interested in.
Hope all is well and want to reach out to you... You may be able to help me with this... https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hill-40211 I don't have access to Ancestry and I believe any information on Alice would be there!
Good luck with your search prior to 1850 for the African ancestors... If you can verify slave records from the 1850s you may need to take a trip to the last known place of your ancestors... Not sure if you have access to the family BIBLE, or any other Church records maybe the best way to put the whole story together!
I have that same problem... I've been back to 1832 and cannot crack that wall...

Elisa, so we both have ancestors that came from Virginia; mine by way of Kentucky to Missouri, too.
Did you want to add the parents to the profile of Major John Lee Lee-13847? I posted a message on his profile with the correct father and mother. There was a different John Lee attached to them, but he has been removed.
Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.
Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As I always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.
