He married his "double" cousin, Elizabeth Maupin, on 17 Sep 1828 in Albemarle County, Virginia.[1] Permission for the marriage was granted by her older brother Pleasant, who served as her guardian, since the death of her father. [2] Their children:
The 1840 Census[3] shows him in the 30-40 age bracket, with his wife, two sons, three daughters, and his mother (or mother-in-law) in Fredericksville Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia. He also owns eight slaves.
The 1850 Census[4] shows him at age 50 with his wife, seven children, and a son-in-law Albemarle County, Virginia.
The 1860 Census[5] shows him at age 60 with his wife and six children in Fredericksville Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia.
The 1850 Census Slave Schedule[7] shows that he owns 15 slaves.
The 1860 Census Slave Schedule[8] shows that he owns 29 slaves.
