Biography

Clifton Maupin is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.

Clifton was born in 1800. He was the son of Thomas Maupin and Ann Spencer.

He married his "double" cousin, Elizabeth Maupin, on 17 Sep 1828 in Albemarle County, Virginia.^[1] Permission for the marriage was granted by her older brother Pleasant, who served as her guardian, since the death of her father. ^[2] Their children:

3. Adeline Maupin (1834–1880)
4. John Rice Maupin (1837–1880)
5. David Maupin (1838–1863)

7. Clifton Price Maupin (1845-1907)

The 1840 Census^[3] shows him in the 30-40 age bracket, with his wife, two sons, three daughters, and his mother (or mother-in-law) in Fredericksville Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia. He also owns eight slaves.

The 1850 Census^[4] shows him at age 50 with his wife, seven children, and a son-in-law Albemarle County, Virginia.

The 1860 Census^[5] shows him at age 60 with his wife and six children in Fredericksville Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia.

He died in 1866 in Virginia.^[6]
