Biography

William Maupin is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.
This profile is part of the Maupin Name Study.

William was born in Virginia in 1837.

The 1850 Census[1] shows him at age 13 in the home of his parents in Albemarle County, Virginia.

The 1860 Census[2] shows him at age 23 in the home of his parents in Albemarle County, Virginia.

He married his third cousin, Lucy Jane Jones (1847-1936), on 28 Aug 1867 in Albemarle, Virginia.[3] Their children:

  1. James Moses Maupin (abt.1869-1940)
  2. William Chapman Maupin (1873-1942)
  3. Sallie Lois (Maupin) Garrett (1877-1937)
  4. Mary Isabella Maupin (1875-1962)
  5. Tilman Jamison Maupin (1881-1941)
  6. Tandy Key Maupin (1884-1947)
  7. Molly F. Maupin, (1888–Deceased)

The 1870 Census[4] shows him at age 33 with his wife and one son in Fredericksville Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia.

The 1880 Census[5] shows him at age 42 with his wife, four children, his mother, father, and his mother-in-law in Albemarle County, Virginia.

The 1900 Census[6] shows him at age 63 with his wife, three children and a son-in-law in Roanoke City Ward 2, Roanoke County, Virginia. This census records that his wife has born 7 children with 6 still living.

He passed away in Virginia in 1901. [7]
