Biography

Mary Jane Matthews was born on June 4, 1857 in Stephens, Texas, United States, daughter of Joseph Beck Matthews (1824–1895) and Caroline Spears (1828–1924).

In 1860, Mary (3) was living in Buchanan, Texas with her husband, John (8); their son, Joseph B (35); her mother, Caroline (31); her sister, Martha (5/12); and Elizabeth Mathews (9). [1]

In 1870, Mary (13) was living in Pickettville, Stephens with her husband, John Alex (17); her mother, Caroline (41); her siblings, Martha Ann (10), Susan Alice (7), and Rose Ella (5); and I B Matthews (43), Mary Jane Matthews (12), and Nathan L Barthelmess (27). [2]

Mary (15) married John M Larn (23) (born on March 1, 1849 in Alabama, United States) on November 28, 1872 in Texas.[3] [4] Their children were:

Mary (23) married John Brown (38) (born on April 6, 1842 in Inverchaolain, Argyll, Scotland, United Kingdom) on October 23, 1880 in Albany, Shackelford.[3] [4]

In 1900, Mary (43) was living in Albany, Shackelford with her husband, John Brown (19); their son, William A L?N (26); and Mary J Brown (21), and Mary L Brown (14). [5]

In 1940, Mary (83) was living in household of Lee P Jordan (55) in Los Angeles, Los Angeles with her husband, John T Jordan (23); her parents, Lee P Jordan (55) and Lee P Jordan (26); and Mary L Jordan (54), and Mary J Brown (82). [6]

Mary died on February 12, 1946 in Los Angeles, aged 88.[7] [8]
