Mates - In loving remembrance of our dear father, James Mates, who died at Jamestown, May 18, 1882.

"Dear father, six years have passed away To-day since thou wert laid to rest.

Day by day we saw him fade And gently sink away; We nursed him with the tenderest care, Yet could not make him stay.

He is gone but not forgotten, Never shall his memory fade; Sweetest thoughts shall ever linger Around the spot where he is laid."
