Biography

Basil was born on the 28th May 1897 based on the 1939 National Register, and his birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1897 in the Hereford district, Herefordshire< His mother's maiden name was Turberville.^[1]

In the 1901 census Basil (age 3) was the son of David B Martin at 147 Whitercross Road, Holmer Within, Hereford, Herefordshire, England.^[2]

In the 1911 census Basil (age 13), School, was the son of David Basil Martin in Shaftesbury House,102 Whitecross Street, Hereford, All Saints, Herefordshire, England.^[3]

In the 1921 census Basil (age 23), History Student, was a single student in Magdaline College, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.^[4]

Basil's marriage to Olga L M Walters was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1926 in the Barnet district, Hertfordshire.^[5]

In the 1939 National Register Basil (age 42), Editor, News Statesman and Nation, was recorded as married at 16 Great James Street, Mount Pleasant, Islington, Holborn, London, England.^[6]

Basil died on the 18th February 1969 residing in London, England and his estate passed probate on the 30th June 1969 in London.^[7]
