Mary is the eldest child of Bill Martin and Flo McCormick . She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1951, where the family lived until moving to Baldwin, New York when she was five. In 1963 the family moved to Morristown, New Jersey, where Mary attended Bayley-Ellard Regional HS. After high school she attended St Bonaventure University in Olean, New York for a year, which was where she met her husband, Nicholas Diamante. They were married on 14 June 1970 and had two children, identical twin boys, Chad and Lee, and four grandchildren, Nicholas, James, Elliot, and Calliope. Nick was a career Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer from 1973-1993 who moved the family all over the country, a great experience.

Mary made a career in retail cosmetic sales, working as a counter manager and makeup artist for Estee Lauder in several department stores, including Lord & Taylor and Saks 5th Ave. She retired in 2013 to take over the full time care of her husband, a disabled veteran.

Ciao! This is just a general check-in for members of the Italy project. I am checking to see who is still interested in being a member of the project as we go through some much needed restructuring. I was also wondering what teams you would like to be on. We’ve created teams for each part of Italy. North, South, Islands etc. They will be explained further in an upcoming g2g post. Stay tuned. For now, please let me know if you are still interested in the project and if you’d like to be a member of a team.

Hello Mary, I am trying to research my family history and have gotten stuck at a past Grandfather, Moses Elliott. The information I have is he was born on 19 Feb. 1813 and came from Virginia and moved to Grayson county Kentucky and married Nancy Smith. I have seen a contact on Family Search that his father was John Elliott born in 1759 Donegal, Ireland. Do you have any additional information that might tell me if your John Elliott might be who I am looking for?
