Biography

Thomas John Marsh was born on December 24, 1889, in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England, the son of Ellen and John Marsh.[1]


He married Ethel (Etta) Mildred Preston on June 18, 1913, in Englehart, Ontario.[2] They had at least three children during their marriage.

He enlisted in the Canadian army on 1915 Oct 16[3]

A good article about his unit - Gridlock Averted: The Importance of the Canadian Corps’ Tramways Organization at Second Arras in 1918[4]

He died as a young father on August 20, 1918, in Somme, Cher, France, at the age of 28, and was buried in Caix, Somme, France.[5][6][7]

His wife appears to move to England and has a child in England. wife and young children return to Canada on 24 Mar 1919 after his death.[8]
