Biography

Francesca was born in 1863 to Francesco Marino, a farmer, and Girolama Giambalvo aka Giampaolo ^[1]. Her mother died when she was 4 during a cholera epidemic. In 1880 at age 17, she married 26-year-old farmer Antonino Giampaolo ^[2], her first cousin.

Research Notes
