Nunzio Mannina is born 19 May 1874 in Corleone, the son of Cosimo Mannina and Bernarda Gariffo. He is baptized the next day. His godfather is Salvatore Addamo.[1]

In the spring of 1906, Nunzio's brother-in-law, Carmelo lo Jacono, a carter, intends to emigrate and join Nunzio in Hattiesburg, MS. Carmelo does not sail on this voyage.[3]
There is a possible match for Nunzio living with a brother in the 1910 federal census. "B" may be "Biagio," traveling in the same group with Nunzio, on line 21.
B. and N. Mannina, ages 24 (b. 1886) and 36 (b. 1874), both from Italy, emigrated in 1902, share a household in Iberville Parish, LA in the 1910 census. They are both merchants: B. is a retail merchant on his own account and N. is employed as a salesman of general merchandise.[4]
Nunzio is allegedly a soldier in the New Orleans crime family who later transfers to the San Francisco crime family.[5] The membership charts on Bill Feather's website confirm this.[6]
Nunzio Mannina (“Nunizo Mannino”) applies for a passport on 28 June 1923. He was born in Italy on 18 May 1874, son of Cosimo Mannino, who is deceased. Nunzio emigrated from Palermo in September 1903 and has lived in New Orleans continuously since then. He was naturalized on 12 April 1920. Nunzio is a salesman. He plans to visit Italy: hard to read first part of the reason but after it says “and for health.”
Nunzio is described as 49 years old, 5’6”, with a medium forehead, brown eyes, prominent nose, moustached mouth, round chin, black hair, dark complexion, and an oval face, and missing the thumb from his left hand.
He is identified by Lawrence Mangano, a New Orleans resident, who has known him for 15 years. He is a merchant living at 520 St. Philip St., NOLA.
His picture appears with this application. He has his passport sent to him at 1034 Louisiana Av., NOLA.[7]
In the 1930s, Nunzio moves to San Francisco, California.[5][8]
In 1937, Nunzio kills his son-in-law, Thomas Argyris, after remonstrating him for beating Nunzio's daughter, Thomas' wife, so severely she requires hospitalization. He is later freed from the murder charge.[5]
Nunzio dies on 6 August 1962 in Sacramento, California.[9] He is buried in Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Sacramento.[10]
