Domenico Mangiameli is a Corleone native resident, the son of Giuseppe Mangiameli and Calogera Adorno, who married in 1807. He is named after his paternal grandfather, as is traditional for the first born son. I estimate he is born the year after his parents marry. His reported age at the birth of one of this children, puts his birth at four years before his parents' marriage, which is probably incorrect. His reported age at death places his birth around 1812.
Domenico marries twice, first to Gaetana Cascio on 20 November 1831. His parents are both still living.[1]
Domenico and Gaetana have at least ten children: five daughters named Calogera (c. 1822, 1837, 1844, 1845, and 1847), Giuseppe (1832), two sons named Gaspare (1835 and 1841), Salvatore (1839), and Antonino (1845).
The first daughter named Calogera is born around 1822, based on her reported age at death.
Giuseppe Maria is born and baptized on 8 September 1832. His godparents are Giuseppe and Lucia Castellano, a married couple.
The first son named Gaspare is born and baptized 1 April 1835, named after his maternal grandfather. His godparents are Calogero Orlando and Orsola Lione, who are not married.
Gaspare dies, reportedly at age two (he is a year and four months old) on 21 August 1836.
The second daughter named Calogera is born 22 July 1837 and baptized the next day. Her older sister with the same name is still living: she is 15 years old at this time. Her godparents are Antonino and Francesca Maringo, brother and sister.
Salvatore is born and baptized on 22 February 1839. His godparents are Leonardo Badami and Bernarda Scoma, unmarried daughter of Pietro.
The second son named Gaspare is known from the civil record of his marriage, which includes a birth record extract. Gaspare is born 19 October 1841. His mother, Gaetana, is 35 (b. 1806). Domenico, age 32 (b. 1803), agricola, reports the birth.
The third daughter named Calogera is born and baptized on 19 January 1844. Her godparents are Giovanni lo Bello and Biagia Cascio, a married couple.
Less than a month later, the first daughter named Calogera dies at age 22 (b. 1822) on 8 February 1844. This record does not specify whether Calogera is unmarried. It is not known if the second (b. 1837) or third daughters with the same name are still living.
The fourth daughter named Calogera is born and baptized on 5 January 1845. Her godparents are Giovanni lo Bello and Francesca lo Cascio. Her godfather is likely the husband of Biagia Cascio; the couple stood as godparents to Calogera's sister of the same name, born the previous year. Calogera dies at two days of age.
Antonino is born and baptized on 13 November 1845. His godparents are Paolo Castro and Francesca Paola Tamburello, a married couple. He dies at six days of age.
The fifth daughter named Calogera is born and baptized 16 May 1847. Her godparents are Ignacio Saporito and Francesca Castro, a married couple.
Gaetana dies at age 40 (b. 1809) on 1 December 1849. The record of her death does not indicate that she has ever married. She is survived by Domenico, her husband, and by her mother.
Domenico remarries to Gaetana's first cousin, Apollonia Russo, daughter of the late Damiano Russo and Vincenza Lucera, on 5 August 1850. His parents have died by this time. Second degree affinity is found but this is not an impediment to the union.[2]
Domenico dies, reportedly at age 45 (b. 1812), on 18 August 1857. His second wife, Apollonia, survives him.[3]
Giuseppe marries Salvatrice Russo on 8 March 1859. By this time, both of his parents have passed away.
Gaspare marries Lucia Lanza on 10 January 1870.
Salvatore is known from the Church record of his marriage to Calogera Mannina, of unknown parents, on 21 April 1873.
