James Roy Maloney was born on 11 May 1891 in Darlington, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, United States, son of Frank B. Maloney (1860–1924) and Lena Gertrude (McClure) Maloney (1873–1948).

James died on 15 May 1979 in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States, aged 88.^[1] He was buried in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum, Indiana, Pennsylvania.

James married Louise Nora (Langham) Maloney (born on 25 Aug 1894 in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States; daughter of U.S. Rep. Jonathan Nicholas Langham and Clara Drucilla (Cameron) Langham) on 25 Aug 1915 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, USA.

J. Roy "Pat" Maloney, 88, formerly of 302 N. 8th Street, Indiana, died Tuesday, May 15, 1979, at Scenery Hill Manor after a long illness. The son of Frank B. and Lena Gertrude Maloney, he was born May 11, 1891 in Darlington, Beaver County. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church and had served as a former trustee of the church; member of the Board of Directors American Red Cross for many years; member of Indiana Lodge 931 BPOE, and was president of the Indiana Automobile Club for 26 years until his retirement. He spent his early years in Beaver and had resided in Indiana since 1918. He had been manager of Indiana Street Railways Co. until it ceased operations and had been manager and secretary of the Oakland Cemetery Association until his retirement. He served two terms as mayor of Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Langham Maloney, whom he married in 1915. Interment in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.^[2]
