Charles was born in 1944. He was the son of Charles Mallon and Mary Hester. He passed away in 2015.

• Born in Sumter, a son of Charles Howard Mallon, Sr. of Bayside, New York and Mary Belle Hester Mallon. He was the husband of Julia Brown Hyatt Mallon who predeceased him. His wife, Julia, was first married to Charles Elton Hyatt. She was a daughter of Harvey Hudson Brown, Sr. and Idell Sally Hancock Brown.

A graduate of Edmunds High School in Sumter, he served in the United States Marine Corps and the SC National Guard. His Bachelor's degree was earned at Newberry College.
