Marie was born about 1690, based on her 1710 marriage year. She was probably born in England. Her parents were Nicholas and Marie (Dufour) Malherbe. They were French Huguenots who fled Loudun, France in October 1686 to avoid either being forced to recant their Protestant religion or to be summarily killed. Many such refugees went first to England, where her father is said to have been a counselor to King WillIam III.[1] Her father first appears in New York Colony records in 1696.[2]
Marriage
Marie married Isaac Guion (1685–1783) on 25 August 1710, in the French church in New York[3] (see also Isaac's profile for sources).
Death
Marie passed away between 1750 and 1783. She is buried in Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York. [4][5]
Research Notes
Her husband's Will suggests that Marie died before 1769, as that's when the Will was written and there is no mention of her in it.[6]
