Biography

Daniel Jacobus was born on 28 February 1810 at Groeneberg in the Wagonmakers Valley. He was the son of Jacob Daniel Malan and Margaretha Johanna Retief.^[1]

He was baptised on 18 March 1810 in the Dutch Reformed Church of Paarl in Paarl.^[1]

On 5 September 1830 he married Margaretha Susanna le Roux in the Dutch Reformed Church of Paarl in Paarl. At the time he was a 20 year old bachelor living at Groenberg.^[2]

He moved to Prince Albert and was a farmer.^[3]

He died on 1 April 1872 at the residence of W.? W. Gouws in Prince Albert at the age of 62.^[3]
