Biography

Francois was born on 7 December 1895 in Prince Albert in the Cape Colony. He was the son of Daniel Jacobus Malan and Hester Catharina Dekkers.^[1]

He was baptised on 29 December 1895 in the Dutch Reformed Church of Prince Albert in Prince Albert.^[1]

On 10 December 1918 he married Aletta Maria Goosen at Cicira in the Umtata district. At the time he was a 23 year old bachelor and a policeman living at Umtata.^[2]

He was a major in the South Africa Police.^[3]

He died on 25 April 1948 in the Umtata Hospital in Umtata at the age of 52^[4] due to acute pancreatitis which lasted 48 hours.^[3] At the time he was a policeman living at 10 Stil street in Potchefstroom.^[4]
