Frank Majuri is a member of the DeCavalcante crime family based in Elizabeth, New Jersey.[1] According to the FBI's list of criminals who have died, Majuri was born 18 April 1909 (the cited source says 1908, but most sources agree he was born in 1909) and died 3 April 1999.[2] The Social Security Numerical Identification file on Frank Majuri names his parents Charles Majuri and Marie Decarlo[3] These names match this Bronx birth record:
Francesco Maiuri is born 22 April 1909 at 634 E. 138th St in the Bronx, NYC, the son of Calogero Maiuri, age 29 (b. 1880), and Maria Maiuri nee Di Carlo, age 25 (b. 1884), both born in Italy. This is her first child. The birth is reported by Rosina Bonacuorso e Costantino of 221 E. 107th St.[4][5]
There is an open issue regarding who Frank's mother is. No marriage has been found for Calogero Maiuri and Maria Di Carlo. Calogero Majuri and Giovanna Catalinotto marry in 1923, claiming it is the first marriage for them both. Based on census records, there are six children in the family born before they marry.
In the 1920 federal census of Clintondale Village, in the town of Lloyd, Ulster County, NY, taken 30 January, Louis Patella and Charles Maiuri head neighboring households on Elwig’s Crossing Rd. Charles Maiuri, 40 (b. 1880), owns his home. He emigrated in 1898 and naturalized in 1914. His wife Mary, 36 (b. 1884), unknown emigration date. Children at home are Frank, 11 (b. 1909), Jennie, 9 (b. 1911), Bessie, 7 (b. 1913), Louis, 4 yrs 7 mo (b. Jun 1915), John 2 yr 6 mo (b. Jul 1917), and Vincent, 9 months (b. Oct 1919). Louis and Jennie were born in Italy and their children in NY. Charles and Mary were born in Palermo Italy and their children in NY. Both men are fruit farmers working on their own accounts.[6]

In the 1925 New York state census taken 1 June 1925, Charles Maiuri heads a household at 108 New Paltz Rd, Ulster, Lloyd County, NY. He is 49 (b. 1876), born in Italy. His wife Jennie is 46 (b. 1879). Children were born in the US: Frank, 16 (b. 1909), Jennie, 14 (b. 1911), Bessie, 11 (b. 1914), Louis, 9 (b. 1916), John, 8 (b. 1917), Vincent, 6 (b. 1919), and Anthony, 3 (b. 1922). Charles is a farmer working on his own account, and has been in the US for 25 years (since 1900). He was naturalized in New York in August 1917. His wife has been in the US for 26 years (since 1899).[7]
In the 1930 federal census of Elizabeth, Union Co., NJ, taken 8 April, Charles Maiuri, 50 (b. 1880), heads a household at 532 Second Av with his wife, Jennie, 51 (b. 1879), and children Frank, 21 (b. 1909), Jennie, 18 (b. 1912) Bessie, 17 (b. 1913), Louis, 15 (b. 1915), John, 12 (b. 1918), and Vincent, 10 (b. 1920). Charles and Jennie were born in Italy: he emigrated in 1897 and she in 1912. They married when he was 28 and she was 29 (c. 1908, between their two immigration dates), and their children were born in New York. Charles is a lather, working for a building company. Frank is in the same profession. Jennie and Bessie, the daughters, both work as salesladies in a department store.[8]
A still concealed at 99 Cottage Pl, producing 500 gal of alcohol a day, raided early 12 October. 2 men and a woman all asleep, arrested, to be arraigned. Frank Majuri, 26 (b. 1909), and his brother John Majuri, 18 (b. 1917), who gave their address as 1009 Maple Av, South Plainfield, NJ, held as operators. Mrs. Ann Sieverts held as material witness. She says she’s a waitress and lives on Oak Tree Rd in Iselin. Building belongs to the George Darby estate and was rented in June to the Majuri brothers.[9]
Frank and Mildred/Millie/Carmela Caruano marry around 1940.[10] They have two children, Marie and Charles.[11]
In the 1940 federal census of Elizabeth, Ward 3, Union Co., NJ, taken 10 April, Frank Majuri, 30 (b. 1910), born in NY, heads a household at 446 Rivington St with his wife Mildred, 17 (b. 1922), born in NJ. In 1935 he lived in Plainfield and she lived in Manhattan. He’s a laborer in building construction and she’s an operator in a dress factory.[12]
A farmhouse in Marlboro, New York, is raided, and 73 men are arrested at a dice game. Frank Majuri, 40 (b. 1909), of Elizabeth, NJ, and Anthony Angelo, 38 (b. 1911), of Harrison, NJ are accused of being the bankers and operators of the dice game.[13]
Stefano Badami, the original boss of the Elizabeth crime family, is killed in 1955 and his underboss, Phil Amari, succeeds him. Frank is Amari's underboss. However, Amari's reign is short, and he retires to Sicily. Nick Delmore replaces him.[1]
In 1956, Frank is sentenced for bookmaking. The 1-2 year prison term is suspended and he is placed on probation.[14]
Delmore, Majuri and a capo, Louis Larasso, represented New Jersey at the famous Apalachin, New York gathering in November 1957. The night before the meeting, Larasso and Majuri registered at a hotel in Binghamton, New York. Both men were officials of the Local 394 of the International Hod Carriers.[15]
Majuri and Larasso are picked up while hitchhiking near the Barbara home.[16][17] The men testify that they were looking at real estate, and unaware of the nearby meeting.[14] Frank is questioned in connection with the murder of Albert Anastasia (on 25 October), and charged with violating probation by leaving New Jersey.[18]
Frank's son, Charles, is active in the same Mafia family from the 1960-80s. In 1964, when Delmore dies, his nephew Simone DeCavalcante, aka "Sam the Plumber," succeeds to his position. Frank, who lost his underboss role under Delmore, regains it under DeCavalcante.[1][19]
In a 1983 Senate hearing on organized crime, it's reported that Frank Majuri lives at 635 Ercama St, Linden, New Jersey, and is a retired consigliere. In addition to the above reported illegal liquor manufacturing, bookmaking, and probation violation, he has been arrested for conspiracy to commit robbery, and labor violations.[20]
Frank dies in a nursing home in Linden, New Jersey, on 3 April 1999 at the age of 90.[21][3][22][10][11] He is buried in St. Gertrudes Cemetery in Colonia, Middlesex County, New Jersey with his wife, Carmela "Millie" Caruano Majuri (1923-2017).[23][24]
