The daughter of David Magee and Martha (Hewitt) Magee, Sarah was born in Giles County in 1866.[1][2] Sarah married Alonzo C. Elgin (1862-1924), the son of James G. Elgin and Clarinda E. Cribbs, in Dyer County on December 20, 1888.[3] Elgin worked as a day laborer in Civil District 4 of Dyer County.[4] According to the 1910 census, Sarah had borne three children, all of whom died either in infancy or in early childhood. The couple divorced between 1900 and 1903, when she married William L. Barnett (1865-). They married in Dyer County on November 1, 1903.[5] He had been previously married to Millie Stafford, with whom had had 3-5 children and who passed away in 1902. Sarah and William also farmed in Dyer County.[6] Sarah passed away at the age of 46 and is buried at Rehoboth Church Cemetery in RoEllen, Tennessee.[7]
