Biography

Linda grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. After graduating from high school, she went to Tufts University and earned a B.A. in English. She then worked in insurance in Hartford for a few years before going to the State University of New York at Albany and acquiring a Master of Library Science degree. Thereafter she worked as a librarian. She married and had one child staying home or working just part-time while her child was young. She did a lot of volunteer work for her church. For the local historical society, she co-edited a history of the town of Longmeadow, MA. She was an active member of a book club (for 45+ years) and a stock club. She was also active in organizing block parties, Christmas caroling, and neighborhood trips to parks and plays. However, what absorbed her most was genealogy and family history. She gathered family stories, documents and old photographs and made sure copies were distributed to all family members. In retirement Wally and Linda moved to Suffield, CT where Linda worked for 20 years on The Suffield Observer, a 40 page monthly newspaper put out by volunteers. She did computerized page layout, wrote a monthly column, and helped with the proofing.

Hi Linda

I am working on Cumberland, England Unknowns and believe that your profile Unknown-227429 should have its LNAB changed to Robinson for reasons set out on the profile. If you agree, could you please make the change. Thanks

Actually, Leo is 77 and Edward Griswold is his 10th gr-grandfather:) How time flies when you're having fun!

The Griswolds are a very interesting family. I just printed out three articles from The American Genealogist (TAG), and added data to Roger Griswold b 1540. Give me a week or so, then take a look at Edward's ancestors.

Hi Linda,

I'm working on your ancestors today and have documented that Deborah, mother of Roger Griswold and first wife of Joseph Griswold son of Joseph and Mary (Gaylord) Griswold, has no last name at birth in any primary records.

I left a Comment on her profile, here: Deborah Griswold.

Joseph Griswold's grandfather Edward is my husband's tenth gr-grandfather.

Hi cousin:)

Hi Linda, Joseph Griswold-684 had a fictitious mother added and I ran across the error working on my John Day line.

John Day-838 married Mary Gaylord-569 as his first wife, and she died before 1690, when he married his 2nd wife. She is the daughter of Walter and Mary (Stebbins) Gaylord.

She got mixed up, thanks to a bad file at FamilySearch, with Mary Gaylord the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Hull) Gaylord, who married Joseph Griswold.

I removed Mary from Griswold as husband. and removed Joseph Griswold as her son.

Then I added Joseph Griswold to the correct mother, wife of Joseph Griswold (senior).

I hope this meets with your approval - if there is something I've missed that would change the outcome, please contact me.

Linda,

I have been trying to contact you regarding Harrison-4972. Are you still here?

Thanks, Alan

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful. Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages". Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages. Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies. Sometime you may run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations. When adding an individual to your tree, don’t forget to add as much information as possible regarding the source of that information. If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page! John Beeson WikiTree Mentor

Do you have Royal Ancestors? They are already here on Wikitree! Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.
