Biography

Alan was born in about 1897 in Scarborough. He was the son of John Macleish and Cecily Ann (Hill) MacLeish.^[1][2]

In 1901 Alan (age about 4) was living in Edinburgh St Cuthbert, Midlothian, Scotland.^[3]

In the 1911 census Alan was a student at the Royal Navy College, Osborne.^[2]

When Alan was about 28 he married in December 1925 in St George Hanover Square, London.^[4]

In 1926 according to an electoral register Alan (age about 29) was living in Kensington, England.^[5]

Alan served in the military in 1934 at an unknown location.^[6]

Alan died at the age of about 43 in 1939 in Sussex while serving as a coder on HMS Victory.^[7]

Alan was buried after 22 April 1940 in England.^[8][9][10]
