Andrew MacKinlay served as Mayor of Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 1845 to 1846, and again from 1851 to 1852.
Born in Stirlingshire, Scotland in 1800, he was the son of John MacKinlay. He emigrated to Halifax and opened a book and stationery store with his brother William.
Andrew married Barbara Goodfellow on January 26, 1829. Barbara died in 1833. He then married Margaret Alardyce on August 8, 1836. [1]They had seven children.
He died in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on September 29, 1867.[2]
