Hi Fred

Here are the directions for creating a One Name Study:

How to Create A One Name Study Project Page

On the top right corner of your WikiTree screen:

Hover your mouse over Add and select New Project from the pull-down menu. A new page will appear entitled Create a New Project. You can use this form to create any project, but select "click here instead" for the option to create a One Name Study or DNA Surname Project. A new page will appear entitled "Create a One Name Study Page." In the first box, replace the "X" with the Surname you have chosen and leave "Name Study" for the creation of the study. Only add one surname and don't use punctuation. You can always edit the title later, if you want to be creative, but this will establish the web address, which is very important for setting up redirects. NEVER USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS!! It won't alphabetize the surname study correctly on the index page. In the 2nd box, enter just the surname by itself (this is to set up the tag for the study} In the 3rd and 4th boxes, enter one spelling variation in each box, this is optional In the Text box, change the X to the correct surname, Remember, DO NOT CAPITALIZE!! Click on the "Create Name Study Page." This will take you to another page that contains the link to the newly created project page. You can now start editing! Remember you can always access this and any of your free space pages from your Watchlist. There is a tab at the top of the Watchlist page just for space pages. Useful Tip: For an easy way to access your One Name Study and any other Free Space Pages, link them to your profile page.

Fred, I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. You appear to have several interests. Why don't you stop by the Project List (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Projects to see how you can participate? Let me know if you need help with anything. We are glad to have you on board!

Hi Fred

One Name Studies is the perfect vehicle to use to start a group interested in pre-1700 Budden family lines. Just follow the directions on the FAQ page, then invite people via G2G to join your study.

Regards,

Doug

Hi Fred

Thank you for joining our One Name Studies project. The FAQ section on the project page should answer most of your questions.

Also, you said you created a study page. What is the url for the Budden free space profile you created? I need to know the exact name of your study in order to link it to the ONS project list.

Regards,

Doug
