Catherine Lyon was born on March 23, 1866[1] in Rosebank, Cape Town, Cape Colony. She was the daughter of Charles Craven Lyon and Mary Ann NN.[2]
Catherine (24) married James Gribble (27) (born on January 27, 1863 in Observatory, Cape Province; son of James Gribble and Jane (Quick) Gribble) on April 15, 1890 in Victoria West, Cape Colony, South Africa. Their known children were:
- Arthur James Gribble (1891–1895)
- Vivian Lyon Gribble (1893–1914)
- Gladys Jane Gribble (1896–1970)
- Harold Quick Gribble (1899–1983)
Catherine died on July 31, 1900 at her residence in Market Square in Paarl, Cape Colony, aged 34[2] due to cysto sarcoma of the parotis which lasted 4 months.[3] She was buried in the old Hof street cemetery in Paarl.[1]
