Biography

Edward Harvey Lunn was born in 1891 in Guildford, Surrey. He was the son of Edward Langridge Lunn and Ellen Carter (Mansell) Lunn. He was christened on 14 Apr 1900 at St Mary's Church in Guildford.

By March 31st 1901, the family were living in Stoke, Guildford. Edward was the youngest of three children; his father was an architect and surveyor. The family had one servant, named Alice Gibbs.

By April 2nd 1911, Edward was an architectural student living in Guildford. But between 1911 and 1914 he got a job as a gasoline engineer in Canada.

When the First World War began, Edward enlisted on 22 Sept 1914 in Valcartier, Quebec, Canada. He served in the 10th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment); they trained on Salisbury Plain, and went to France early in 1915. He was wounded in a trench near Stangy in northern France on 25 Jul 1915, and died on 31 Jul 1915, aged 24. He was buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension . He is commemorated on Page 25 of Canada's First World War Book of Remembrance, and on the Roll of Glory in Holy Trinity Church, Guildford.
