He was one of the first settlers in Dividing Creek, coming ashore where the bridge is now located. He cleared a large parcel of land called Seth Lore's Plantation [consisting] of 510 acres starting at the Dividing Creek Bridge and going up from Maple Creek to Mill Creek. Seth Lore located in this area between 1735 and 1740."[4]

Death and Legacy

"Seth Lore, of Downs Township, Cumberland Co." died intestate before 24 January 1780. The administrator of the estate was Nathaniel Lore, with fellowbondsman Gideon Heaton, both of Downs. Witness: Peter Ladow.

His tombstone is particularly lovely because he donated the land for the church and cemetery.[7]
