Lee (Logsdon) Gibbons was a wonderful member of our WikiTree community who has passed away. Lee (Logsdon) Gibbons made many contributions and will be missed.
I was born in Beardstown, Illinois, daughter of Capt. Elmer and Blanche Violet Smith Logsdon. I grew up with the Illinois River almost at our back door. My father worked for his father as a boat pilot on that river, and when father had to work away from home, my mother took us with them on the boat, a wooden, paddle wheel boat, built by my grandfather.
I graduated in 1950 from the local high school and in January, 1951, after receiving a recruitment letter for seniors to work at the Justice Department in Washington, D.C., I moved there and worked in the typing section of the FBI.
After working there one year I returned home. Started working for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, a subsidiary of A.T. and T., in the Commercial Department, Springfield, Illinois, until I married State Trooper Donald Gene Gibbons, son of a Cass County, Illinois farmer, on March 8th, 1959. We have three fine sons and we have seven grandchilldren.
It has been an interesting and good life, with some ups a downs, but am looking forward to what is just around the next corner!

Thanks so much for fixing what I asked. I apologize if my request was at all terse or rude. I have such a hard time "smiling" online! lol. BTW, are you on ancestry.com? I found a guy looking for descendants of a woman who married into the DeWitt line after an adoption, and I knew that couple--they lived a few blocks from me growing up. If he hasn't found them yet, I'd like to let him know they exist (one of my sisters went to school with a granddaughter), but I'm not on ancestry.com. If you are, here's the message: https://www.ancestry.com/boards/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.wayne/2346.1/mb.ashx I'll private message you my email if you'd like.
Hi, Lee. We're cousins, I suspect, through the DeWitt Line. I'm Benjamin-Benjamin Jr.-Nellie--my dad-me. I've been to Beardstown many times, including spending time at the genealogy/history place there in 2005 or so, where I talked with Fred DeWitt among others and spent days poring through records, files, and photos.
I have things to add to profiles you've created in my direct line. I'm new here, so I apologize in advance for any inadvertent rudeness. Just let me know if I tread on your toes in any sense.
Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.
Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.
Lear-395 and Lear-402 are the same person. Rita Maxine Lear was my mother in law. I am married to her daughter Rhonda "Ronnie" Ellen Drage. She divorced my wife's father, Ray Drage, and remarried Mr Greenhalgh. My wife knew him, but I didn't. I did know Rita personally, and these two individuals are the same person. Ray Drage is still living in Edina, and Rita's daughter Pam lives south of Springfield IL. in Chatham.
I worked on this profile... using Find A Grave. I see that this Cynthia A (Edmonston) Black had a half-brother Ninian Edmonston (1871-1926).
I believe they are related to my Royal Edmonston ancestors as there are 3 Ninian Edmonston s on wikitree. I do not know how they are connected yet. I hope you don't mind if I work on more of your Edmonstons? Please also see my previous message :)
We are fifth cousins twice removed and share 185 common ancestors.
Janine :)
Thanks again!
