Sarah Ann Lockett was born in 1846 in Wanganui, New Zealand, daughter of Jonas Lockett and Agnes Williams.
Sarah (16) married William Armstrong (22) in 1863 in New Zealand.
Sarah died on 5 January 1914 in Wanganui, Wellington, aged 68. She was buried in Heads Road Cemetery, Whanganui, Whanganui District, Manawatū-Whanganui.
We regret to have to record the depth of still another of Wanganui's old identities in the person of Mrs Sarah Ann relict of the late William Armstrong who passed away yesterday at the age of 68years. The deceased lady, who was born in Wanganui lived all her life here and in consequence passed through all the troublous times of the early days. She was the daughter of the late Mr Jonas Lockett, one time Collector of Customs, and a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity and the Anglican Church. She leaves a grown up family consisting of Mr William Armstrong (Auckland), Mrs Humphrey (Kahahi), Mrs Lints (New Plymouth), Walter Armstrong (deceased), and Mr John Armstrong (Wanganui), and Miss J. Armstrong (Wanganui), also 25 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, to all of whom sincere sympathy in their great loss will be extended.[1]
