Biography

Ron Ling was born in Suffolk, England.

Ron was born on the 25th March, 1918, in Ipswich Suffolk, England, to Daniel Ling and his wife Annie Sturgeon^[1][2]

In 1921, Ron was living at 86 Waveney Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, with his parents and siblings. This family home was probably where he had been born 3 years previously, and where he lived until 1939. ^[3]

The 1939 register shows Ron living at 86 Waveney Road, Ipswich Suffolk, with his parents, and 4 of his 8 siblings. ^[4]

During the 4th quarter of 1939, in Sudbury, Suffolk, Ron married Frederica Higgs.^[5]

Ron was called to serve his country during WWII, and upon his safe return, the marriage to Frederica was anulled, as she had bore another mans child whilst he was away. Other than honesty with the woman who was to become his wife, this marriage and child was never spoken about again. ^[6]

Upon his return Ron took a job as a delivery driver and warehouseman. ^[7]

On the 29th August, 1953, Ron married Bertha Edna Robinson, in Bethesda Church, Ipswich, Suffolk, England.^[8]

On 25th August, 1954, they welcomed their only child, a daughter, who they named Wendy Anne, into the world. Her name was chosen as it was so close to their first wedding anniversary.^[9]

In 1957, Ron moved his family from Betty's family home in Richmond Road, Ipswich, to his old family home in Waveney Road, having purchased the house from his father. He lived there until his passing in 1977.^[10]

Ron suffered 3 strokes between 1975 and 1977, of which the third on 19th December, 1977 was to sadly take his life.^[2]
