Biography

Floyd was born in 1929 on the family farm west of Albert City, Iowa, He graduated from Albert City High School. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and was on the football team there. The football coach at Morningside was George Herbert Allen (1918-1990) the future NFL coach. He graduated from Morningside in 1951.

In Sioux City Floyd met Jane Louise Talley (1929-1974), They married 23 February 1952, They moved to a farm near Webb, Iowa. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in January, 1953. He received a medical discharge in May 1953.

After his discharge from the army Floyd and family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he started his career with the retail company Neisner Brothers. During his career with Neisner's He worked in Omaha, Nebraska, Chicago, Illinois, San Antonio, Texas, Lynchburg, Virgina, Ferndale, Michigan, Tallahassee, Florida, Avon Park, Florida, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and Oneida, New York. After his career at Neisner's he worked for Prudential Insurance.

Floyd's first wife Jane died 13 February 1974 in Oneida. He married Rosemary Simmonds 14 June 1975. After his retirement Floyd and Rosemary spent several winters in Myrtle Beach. He spent the last months of his life in Colonial Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rome, New York. [1]
