Biography
Mary (Lewis) Kennedy is a part of US Black heritage.
Daughter of Dewit Lewis and Anna M. English.
Dewitt Lewis is named as the father of Mary Lou Lewis Kennedy b 1928 in Millington, Shelby, Tennessee. Her mother is named as Annie M. English.[1] There is no evidence that Dewitt and Annie were ever married. Annie gave birth to Mary Lou at about age 15.
At age 16, in 1930, Ada M English was age 17 and single. She was with her parents Abe and Mary in Civil District 1, Shelby County, Tennessee. Ada had a nine-month-old daughter, Mary L Louis. Ada's father Abe was age 38 b Tennessee. Ada's mother Mary was age 39 b Tenn. Brother Wesley was age 19 and single. Brother John E was age 15 b Tennessee. Brother Willie was age 13 b Tenn.[2]
Mary Lou married Thomas Jefferson Kennedy about 1947.
They were the parents of Shirley Kennedy b 1948, Thomas Jefferson Kennedy Jr. 1950-2013, Ruby Kennedy 1951-2020 and Jackie Kennedy 1965-2019.
In 1950 Mary L Kennedy was age 22, laboring on a farm in Scott Township, Mississippi, Arkansas. Her mother Anna M English was age 36, b Tennessee. Her husband Thomas J Kennedy was age 33. Her son Thomas Jr. was age 7. Her daughter Shirley was age 2.[3]
