Biography

Edward Kingsman married Susanna Leviston after Banns at St Andrew's, Holborn on the 26th March 1804. Both made their mark. The witnesses were William Rennet and Rebecca Chapman. ^[1]

Susannah Kingsman, Edward's wife, died before him on the 29th September 1840 age 54 years old at 31 St. Helena Place , in the Sub-district of Amwell, Clerkenwell, in the County of Middlesex, in the Registration District of St. James Clerkenwell. She had a disease of the liver. Elizabeth, her single daughter living at 31 St. Helena Place, Clerkenwell in 1840, who was present at her death, registered the death and signed her mark.^[2]

On the Australian death certificate of her son, Richard (d1865), her surname is given as Brown. This is most likely a simple error, as she was only 18 years old when she married Edward and no evidence of an earlier marriage has been found

She was buried 7 October 1840 at Spa Fields Burial Ground^[3]
