Biography

John was born in 1890. ^[1]

In the 1901 Census, he was living with his parents and 2 siblings at Camden Town, St Pancras, London, England. ^[2]

In the 1911 Census, he was living with his parents at 37 Warden Road, Kentish Town with his parents, 3 siblings and an uncle. He was an Art Colour Maker. ^{[3] [4]}

He married Lydia Jane Sims on 29 June 1912 at Camden Town, London, England. ^{[5] [6]}

On 10th March 1915 he first served in France in World War 1 as part of the 1st Battalion of the 19th Regiment (St Pancras Rifles), alongside his brother William, who was killed in action in 1918. Here's his medal card showing him as a Serjeant. ^[7].

Either John or his brother, William James, are in this photo of warrant and non-commissioned officers, 3/19th Battalion. ^[8]

In the 1939 Register, he was a Labourer Machine Shop living at 13 Landseer Close, Harrow, Wembley M.B., Middlesex, England. ^[9]

He passed away on 30 Sep 1954 in Harrow, Middlesex. ^[10]
