Catherine Leblond was born on 4 October 1664 and baptized the 12th in La-Visitation-de-Notre-Dame parish of Château-Richer, Canada, Nouvelle-France. Her parents were Nicolas Leblond and Marguerite Leclerc. Godparents were Pierre Lognon and Catherine Bésnard, wife of Jacques Delaunay. The officiating priests was Thomas Morel.[1]
Marriage
Catherine Leblond married Jean Riou, son of Jean Riou and Marguerite Guinguen, on 10 January 1678 in Sainte-Famille, Île d'Orléans.
In the presence of known witnesses Vincent Chrestien, Mathurin Gerber, David Asselin, and Bernard Laine. The celebrant priest was Charles Amador Martin.[2]
In 1681 the family consisted of “Jean Riou 30; Catherine Leblond, his wife, 18; Nicolas, their son, 1". Jean possessed "15 arpents en valeur” at Conté de St-Laurent.[3][4]
Death and Burial
Catherine Leblond, wife of the late Jean Riou, passed away on 1 December 1753 being given the age of around 87 years on the record. Her burial was the following day in Trois Pistoles.[5]
