Nelson was born in 1888. He was the son of Eugene LeBegue and Louisa Genre. He was a World War I veteran, serving in the 118th Company of the Motor Transport Corp, though he was originally assigned (and departed for France in July 1918) as a member of Company C of the 50th Engineers. He passed away in 1965.
