Biography

Pvt First Class Jerry H Laughlin (1870 - 1933) was the son of William Laughlin and Catherine (Cusick) Laughlin. [1] While serving in the 34th US Vounteer Infantry Co G from July 15, 1899 to March 5, 1901, he lost the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th fingers of his left hand and suffered from reccuring bouts of malaria. He was a POW in the American - Philippine War, 1899–1902. He is buried at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA.[2]

Two of Jerry's wives were Sarah Ellen May and Isophenia Collins nee Schenck.

The pension record is correct. The reason it appears to be a different unit is on that record there is 2 Laughlin's on the same record, the bottom one is this Laughlin

Jerry has pension records in 3 different states and 3 wives. One daughter from the 3 married as second spouce married a man 13 years younger.
