Biography
Henderson County Illinois Cemeteries, Vol 1, p.69
"Records of other Hunts in this cemetery show they had once lived in Burlington Iowa, which is just on the other side of the Mississippi River.
It is also located just above Nauvoo, IL where Nancy Adaline Hunt moved with John Wherrett". (This is very interesting, but is there a source?)
All LASSWELLS, LASWELLS, LACEFIELDS, LACEWELLS, in the United States are descended from our old immigrant ancestor, William Lasswell, the fellmonger from Colchester, Essex Co., England. I can say this because there was not a single Lasswell, by any spelling in the entire 1790 census of the United States, except our ancestor Williams Sr., and his sons, in North Carolina. That astounding fact is easily understood, when one considers that the entire Virginia census of 1790 was destroyed by the British in the War of 1812. There would no doubt be a sizeable number of Lasswells on the 1790 census of Virginia if such records existed. When you find a Lasswell by any spellng, he comes frrom old William of Colchester (Source???)
