Biography

I knew Grandpa Lee when he was 90 years old up until his death at abt. 96 years of age, 1959. Fifty years later not knowing my great grandfathers given name made research difficult because census takers/recorders have misrepresented his name so badly. I now believe his given name is Eleazar Erwin Lashbrook and he was born during the civil war in 1863. Erwin Lashbrook ... At age 19 married Emma Schram age 16 in Bay County, Sterling, Michigan on December 28, 1882 (marriage notice). He visited our farmhouse near Dundee, Michigan and our family visited him several times when he lived with his daughter (Aunt) Esther in Detroit in her red brick house. This house was on Birwood street at the end/corner of Invervale street. He once took us on a ride in his vintage model T Ford with a rumble seat. Grandpa Lee kept it preserved in the back garage. He had an apartment in her basement and when visiting him he always gave us candy, always including round pink wintergreen mints.
