Reinhold Robert Leopold Lamprecht was born on 07 May 1872 in Nakel, Wirsitz, Posen, Prussia, Deutsches Reich. He was the son of Friedrich Carl Lamprecht and Anna Louise (Erdmann) Lamprecht.[1][2]

When he was just under one year old, he immigrated to the United States with his mother. They sailed aboard the steam ship Ohio from the port of Bremen to Baltimore, Maryland, arriving on 05 Apr 1873. They were accompanied by his maternal uncle, Ferdinand Gottlieb Erdmann.[3] His father was not with them. It is likely he arrived before them to find work and a place to live before the rest of the family joined him.

The family settled in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. At the time of the 1880 Census, they were living in an area of Toledo known as the Polish Settlement. His father worked as a carpenter in wagonworks.[4]

While he was a child, all of his documentation indicates his first name was Reinhold. As an adult, he began going by the name Reinhardt Emil Lamprecht.

He served as a Private in Company A of the 6th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Spanish American War, enlisting on 25 Apr 1898 and being discharged on 24 May 1899.[5] His unit arrived in Cuba after the end of active fighting, serving as occupying forces there from 04 Jan 1899 until 22 Apr 1899.[6]

He married Ida Laurich on 11 Oct 1899 in Lucas County.[7] Together they had at least the following children:[8][9][10][11][12][13]

  2. Emilie Alma (Lamprecht) Myers (14 Mar 1906 - 19 Sep 1957)
